The OLED Super Retina XDR display on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus has a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 for darker blacks and brighter whites and a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits for HDR images, videos, TV shows, and movies. The models of the new series typically have a maximum brightness of 800 nits, which is 200 nits less than the 14 Pro variants.
The iPhone 14 has a resolution of 2532 by 1170 with 460 pixels per inch, while the iPhone 14 Plus has a resolution of 2778 by 1284 with 458 pixels per inch.
A “Ceramic Shield” is there present which protects the display from damage. Apple claims that Ceramic Shield is more resistant to scratches and daily wear and tear than any smartphone glass, thanks to a dual-ion exchange mechanism.
The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus feature 6GB RAM, up from 4GB in the prior-generation models.
All iPhone 14 models come standard with 128GB of storage, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus may be ordered with up to 512GB of storage capacity. Moreover, The Pro variants have up to 1TB of storage space, which is half of this amount.
The new 12-megapixel front-facing camera has an f/1.9 aperture that lets in more light than before for better selfies and FaceTime video calls. Additionally, it introduces focusing, which boosts image quality and makes low-light selfies two times as good.
Both the rear and the front-facing camera support features like Night mode for selfies, Smart HDR 4, Dolby Vision HDR recording, Deep Fusion, and the new Photonic Engine, as well as ProRes and the Cinematic mode for recording videos with depth-of-field changes akin to those found in movies.
The front-facing camera also supports 4K video recording, QuickTake video, Slo-mo video, Portrait mode, Portrait Lighting, and the Photographic Styles function for selectively applying edits.
Apple now refers to the 12-megapixel Wide lens on the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus as the “Main” lens. the dual-lens camera system also includes a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide lens.
An improvement over the /1.6 aperture utilized in the iPhone 13 camera, Apple has improved the Main camera with an f/1.5 aperture. More light is let in by the redesigned lens, which also features a bigger sensor, improving performance in low light. Apple claims that compared to the iPhone 13 camera, the new Main camera allows in 49% more light.
The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus offers up to 4K video recording at 24, 25, 30, or 60 fps. HDR recording, ProRes video, slo-mo video, and time-lapse are all supported.
Apple added a new Action mode that’s designed to provide smooth-looking video that ignores shakes, motion, and vibrations. Action mode records up to 2.8K at 60 frames per second.
Up to 20 hours of video playback, up to 16 hours of streaming video playback, and up to 80 hours of audio playing are all possible on the new series, which is an hour longer than the previous 13 series.
The iPhone 14 Plus has a maximum video playback time of 26 hours, a maximum streaming video playtime of 20 hours, and a maximum audio playtime of 100 hours.
With a power adapter of 20W or greater, both devices have fast-charge capabilities and can be charged to 50% in 30 to 35 minutes.
