Many applications rely on your location to work. This includes iPhone food delivery apps (such as Uber Eats, DoorDash, and GrubHub), ride-hailing apps (such as Uber and Lyft), weather apps, bank apps, and other similar services. Similarly, if you wish to share your present position with friends and family, messaging applications like iMessage, WhatsApp, and Telegram must have access to your location.
You’ll get notifications like “location not available on iPhone,” “switch on-location services to allow the app to detect your position,” “app does not have access to your location,” and so on if an app can’t acquire your location.
This article will teach you how to rapidly resolve this issue and grant the app access to your location.
While you don’t need a functioning internet connection for your iPhone to locate you, be sure you have one. Make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data under iPhone Settings. To test this, go to a webpage in Safari and see if it loads.
No app or service can have your location unless it’s enabled in settings. Here’s how to do that:
After you’ve enabled location services on your iPhone, double-check that the app you’re using has permission to use it.
When you initially start an app or use one of its features that requires location, it displays a window asking for permission to use your location. If you tap Allow, the programme is granted that permission. If you select Don’t Allow, an error message will appear.
So, if you can’t share your position on WhatsApp or a food delivery service can’t figure out where you are, try these steps:
If you don’t see the app in step 2, go to the bottom of the initial Settings app screen. Tap the app’s name > Location from here.
If you don’t see the Location option, it’s because the app hasn’t requested for permission to use your location yet. This frequently happens after you’ve reset your location or all of your settings. To remedy this, launch the app and use the location-based functionality. After that, the app will display a window asking for your location. Here, tap Allow.
Note: This can also happen if the app is built not to access your location.
If the messages “location not available on iPhone,” “switch on location services to allow the app to detect your location,” or “app does not have access to your location” continue to appear, forcibly quit all applications and restart the ones that are relevant. The location errors should no longer appear after this.
Go to iPhone Settings and enable the toggle for Airplane Mode. Wait for 15 seconds and tap the same toggle to disable Airplane Mode.
Often location errors caused by temporary glitches can be easily fixed by turning off your iPhone and turning it back on.
If your device’s date and time are incorrect, several things won’t work correctly. To address this, set the correct date & time, and the easiest way to do that is by automatically letting your iPhone take care of it.
It’s likely that there is a bug in the app that’s causing location errors. Update the app from the App Store to rule out this possibility.
If the problem continues, you can remove the app and reinstall it before moving on to the remaining solutions.
Reset your iPhone’s settings if the location error message keeps popping up even after following the above solutions. Doing this will revert all changed settings to the default state.
To share your location in Messages, open a conversation and tap the person’s name or profile picture from the top. Next, tap Send My Current Location or Share My Location. However, if you see an error when you try to share your location on iMessage, follow these fixes.
