For the past few months, the iPhone 15 — and its supposed hardware enhancements — have been the topic of the rumour mill. Now, 9to5Mac has revealed what they claim to be CAD-based renders of the iPhone 15 Pro and its Max counterpart in an amazing visual fashion.
Let us begin with the screen. The pill-shaped Dynamic Island is here to stay, but Apple appears to be reducing bezels on its forthcoming flagships. If the leaked renders are accurate, the iPhone 15 Pro will have some of the tiniest bezels of any phone on the market.
There’s both good and bad news in the back. The depressing part is that the camera hump is getting bigger. But, if it’s any consolation, the camera island is expanding due to sensor advancements beneath that glass shell.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to feature a periscope-style telephoto camera like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, providing a greater zoom range. The current generation of iPhones can only achieve 3x lossless optical zoom output.
It remains to be seen whether it can match the 10x optical zoom figures offered by some high-end Android phones. The smaller iPhone 15 Pro trim is apparently getting sensor enhancements for its light sensitivity to deliver sharper and more color-accurate photos.
Turning to the sides, we can see the solid-state buttons, which are flush with the shiny titanium frame. These solid-state buttons provide haptic feedback in order to simulate the click output of a traditional physical button. Notably, the mute switch is changing shape and getting haptic later this year.
In terms of color possibilities, it appears that a rusty red will be the hero hue for the iPhone 15 pair. Apple hasn’t utilized this color on any of their products yet, and it looks great. The remaining colors might be white, black, and gold.
We also get a good look at the USB-C port, which has replaced the Lightning port due to EU pressure. In true Apple form, the business has imposed engineering constraints to ensure that rapid charging is only possible with its own cables or those certified by the company.
